CSV Formatter & Validator

Paste CSV, clean up its quoting or convert it to JSON — delimiter (comma/semicolon/tab) auto-detected. All in your browser, nothing uploaded.

How it works

  • Format re-serializes your CSV with normalized quoting (only fields that actually need it — containing the delimiter, a quote, or a newline get wrapped) and line endings, using whichever delimiter it’s using throughout.
  • To JSON converts to an array of objects keyed by the header row (or an array of arrays if you turn “First row is header” off), with automatic type detection — 36 becomes a number, true/false become booleans, everything else stays a string.
  • Delimiter is auto-detected from the header row (comma, semicolon, or tab — semicolons are common in CSV exported from European-locale spreadsheets) but you can force one explicitly.

Ragged rows (a row with a different column count than the first row) don’t block Format or To JSON — short rows get empty-string-filled, extra cells beyond the header are dropped — but you’ll see a note above the output naming the row. If you want ragged rows treated as a real problem rather than a note, that’s exactly what the parser’s internal validation path does; a row-count mismatch is the main thing this tool checks for.

Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you paste here is uploaded, logged, or stored. No autosave, by design, since exported CSV often contains customer or internal data.
